Kids Chennai Super Kings Jersey Sizing Guide and Collection

So today I wanna talk about kids’ CSK jerseys. Seriously, sizing is a total nightmare if you don’t know what you’re doing. Here’s how it went down for me.

The “Surprise” Birthday Disaster

My nephew’s birthday was coming up, kid lives and breathes cricket, worships Dhoni. Figured, hey, perfect gift – Chennai Super Kings jersey. Easy, right? Nope. Went online searching, saw like a hundred different sellers. Prices all over the place, pictures look kinda similar but also kinda different. Felt overwhelmed. Clicked on one that seemed legit, popped in his age (8 years old) and just ordered a Medium. Big mistake.

Trying On The First Jersey

Package arrived, pulled out the jersey. Looked good, bright yellow and blue. Held it up and thought “Hmm, seems big.” Got the kid excited, he pulled it on. Total mess. The thing was huge! Collar flopped, sleeves hung way past his hands, the hem almost down to his knees. Kid looked like a little blue-and-yellow ghost. He was bummed. “Uncle, I look weird,” he mumbled. Felt terrible. Gotta get this right.

Went back online, determined. Found a few big sports sites. This time, I ignored the “Age” suggestions completely. Looked closer.

Measuring Tape To The Rescue

Grabbed my niece too, figured might as well get one for her. Got out the old measuring tape. Had them stand straight against the wall:

  • Nephew: Height around 120 cm. Chest about 58 cm.
  • Niece: Shorter, maybe 110 cm. Chest smaller too, about 54 cm.

Checked the official-looking size charts. Turns out:

  • That first Medium was supposed to fit up to 135 cm! Way off base.
  • For his 120 cm height, the chart said Size S (Small).
  • My niece needed an XS (Extra Small) at 110 cm.

Made a note: Never trust the age guide alone. Measure! Got burned once, wasn’t happening again.

Handling Different Brands

Found two official jerseys – the replica version and a slightly pricier “player” version. Figured I’d grab both sizes since I was confused.

  • Same size letter? Totally different fit! One brand’s Small was basically the other brand’s Medium.
  • The “player” style seemed more snug, designed to be tighter maybe like the actual players wear? Not baggy at all.
  • The replica one felt looser, lighter material. More like a comfy fan shirt.

Had both kids try them on again. S was good for nephew in the replica style. Needed an XS in the “player” style though. Niece stuck with XS, but even those varied slightly. Lesson? Check the brand specific chart EVERY single time.

The Collection Looks Good (Finally!)

Couple weeks later, got the replacements. Opened the boxes nervous. But this time? Perfect. Replica jersey fit nephew just right, shoulders good, sleeves ended above the wrists. Player jersey on my niece, fitted nicely, not swimming in it. Got a snap of them together looking proper proud. Closet’s got two legit CSK jerseys that fit.

So here’s the cheat sheet I figured out the hard way:

  • Throw the “Age” recommendation out the window first thing.
  • Get that measuring tape – Height and chest measurement are absolute key.
  • Compare YOUR kid’s measurements directly with that brand’s size chart. Don’t guess.
  • Style matters! Player fit vs. replica fit very different. Factor that in.
  • If possible, be ready to exchange. Sizing is just plain inconsistent.

Trust me, skip the birthday jersey blues. Measure first, order later. Those little Super Kings will thank you for it!
